When our baby was six months old, we noticed he kept sliding down in the pram, and staring into the sky. I was always putting jumpers behind him to prop him up. As doctors, we were worried that he was staring at the sky instead of learning about the world around him. We looked into the medical evidence behind the correct pram seating position for infants and
After 18 months of research, we found strong evidence-based medical reasons for upright seating instead of at an incline.
As he grew, we found very few products were designed to put babies’ development at the heart of the product.
So we set up Eyas to be baby-centric and do just that foster baby development.
We have with a curated network of paediatricians, opthalmologists and child development specialists who we co-design all the products with.
Ethically inspired, at the heart of Eyas is ensuring that every material we bring into the world is held to the utmost strictest of environmental standards. This includes using 100% undyed, natural jute for packaging and reusable Kraft paper bags, not requiring special compost materials.
At Eyas, we donate a portion of all profits to a Violence against Women and Girls charity, a cause we have felt passionately about for a long time.
Whilst developing new products,
about once a week a mum would say to me “you MUST create this new product“
and when I asked why didn’t they do it, the immediate response was “Oh I wouldn’t know where to start!” To give parents the opportunity and support to create ad innovate, we created the Eyas Launchpad.
We created an incubator to help mums turn their baby product ideas into reality - supporting them every step of the way.
This includes support in design, safety testing, manufacture, and many others. Our dream is to take this programme into places like Serbia and other countries, where opportunities can be harder to come by. We hope to empower women with the tools and support to build meaningful businesses for themselves and their communities.
